Dr Habib Bhurawala Coordinator

Dr Habib Bhurawala is a consultant Paediatrician currently working at Nepean & Blue Mountains hospital. Originally from Gujarat state in India where he completed medical training obtaining MBBS and MD Paediatrics from MS University in Baroda, India. He moved to Australia to gain further training in Paediatrics. He obtained Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in 2008. He has keen interest in medical education. He regularly teaches medical students at School of Medicine, University of Sydney where he has appointment as clinical lecturer. He was awarded Mentor of the year prize by The Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2013 which is the highest annual binational award for teaching/mentoring awarded by The College of Physicians in Australia and New Zealand. He has been recipient of several teaching awards by The University of Sydney. He has keen interest in health promotion and prevention.

Dr Ahad Khan

Dr Ahad is one of the earliest Indian doctor to migrate to Australia in 1971 after 'White Australia Policy' was lifted. Worked in Hospitals in Tasmania, Katoomba, Darwin and also as a Medical Registrar at Broken Hill Hospital. Worked as a GP in Whyalla SA, earning his Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Rural & Remote Medicine. Served as GP in the Blue Mountains for nearly 35 years. Dr Ahad is married & has 2 Children & 4 grand kids. A Qualified NSW Cricket Umpire and interest in music. Worked on various Community Uplift projects & organisation. Impressed with ICSOA's Mission & Objectives, he has offered to give some of his time for this worthy Organisation.

Dr Shakeel Abbas

Dr Shakeel did his MBBS and MD (Pathology) from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh India in 1992. He obtained further training in Australia and awarded Fellowship of The Royal college of Pathologists of Australasia (FRCPA) in Haematology in 2004. He is currently working as a consultant Haematologist/Pathologist in Southern Sydney Haematology and Sonic Health Care.

Dr Soliman Qurashi

Dr Qurashi is a Sydney trained and based Hip & Knee Surgeon with expertise in Hip replacement, Knee replacement and Reconstructive surgery. He is the pioneer of the micro invasive SuperPATH hip replacement in Australia and a key opinion leader in the field with multiple International presentations and publications to his name. Dr Qurashi holds appointments at multiple public & private hospitals in Sydney including Canterbury, St Luke’s, Nepean and Norwest Hospitals with academic affiliations with the Universities of Sydney and Notre Dame.

Dr Zainab Abbas

Dr Zainab did her MBBS from Monash Medical School Melbourne in 1993. She further trained and completed diploma in Paediatrics and obtained FRACGP (Fellowship of the Royal Australian college of General Practitioners). She is currently working as a General practitioner in Castle Hill Medical Centre in Sydney.

Dr Zakir Akhunji

Dr Zakir Akhunji is originally from Gujarat, India. He completed MBBS and M.S. (General Surgery), M.Ch. (Cardiothoracic surgery) and DNB (Cardiothoracic surgery) from India. He later obtained Fellowship of the Royal college of Surgeons (FRCS) from UK and completed training in cardiothoracic surgery in Australia and obtained Fellowship of The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in cardiothoracic surgery. He works as consultant cardio thoracic surgeon at Prince of Wales public and private hospitals. He has keen interest in community service and health education.

Dr Mujib Abdulrazzak

Dr.Abdul-Razak is a consultant Head & Neck surgeon and Surgical Oncologist at the Westmead Hospital .He graduated from Madras Medical College in 1995 and went to the UK to complete his FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1999. His passion for Surgical Oncology made him return to India to complete his General Surgical training (DNB-General Surgery) and pursue a career in Surgical Oncology. Dr.Abdul-Razak completed three more years of sub-specialty training in Surgical Oncology and was awarded the MCh in Surgical Oncology in 2004.
Dr.Abdul-Razak migrated to Australia in 2004 and was assessed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and after further training was awarded FRACS in General Surgery. During that time he spent two years as a Fellow in the Department of Head & Neck surgery and Surgical Oncology at the Westmead Hospital. Dr.Abdul-Razak also holds Visiting Medical Officer appointments at the Norwest Private Hospital and Westmead Private Hospital. He is actively involved in research and medical education.
