I welcome the establishment of the Indian Crescent Society of Australia Inc. (ICSOA) and wish the society every success in helping Indian Muslim migrants settle into our wonderful country.
I applaud ICSOA's objectives of networking with other religions and ethnicities in Australia and of promoting peace and harmony in the community.
Indian Muslims have already contributed in a number of fields in Australia and have helped build the rich, multicultural nation we are today.
In Queensland, we are working hard to build a State that is outward looking, innovative and inclusive. The first piece of legislation we passed last year was the Multicultural Recognition Act 2016. It created a Multicultural Queensland Charter outlining the principles of promoting harmony, inclusion and fairness.
We look forward to Muslims of Indian heritage building a happy and successful life in Australia and making a positive contribution to communities everywhere.
