Message from The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC
Governor of New South Wales

Mr Abbas Raza Alvi
President
Indian Crescent Society of Australia
PO Box 151
KINGS LANGLEY NSW 2147

I convey my best wishes to you and the members of the Indian Crescent Society of Australia as you observe the holy month of Ramadan.

It is a matter of sadness that, in response to COVID-19, your observances, and those with whom you share your Iftar dinners and Eid celebrations will be constrained this year. I wish to especially thank you for playing your part in following the Government and NSW Health's advice so as to keep the community safe.

As a result of the strong community response to the Government's advice, restrictions on families and friends being together are slowly and cautiously being relaxed. I also believe that the present limitations on our activities will make us treasure all the more the time when extended gatherings of family and friends can be resumed.

This year, dedication to Zakat will be particularly important as members of our community have found themselves isolated and many are in need of extra assistance due to the economic impact of the present crisis. Thank you for the work you do in this regard.

On behalf of the people of New South Wales, my warm best wishes in this holy month of Ramadan.

Assalamu alaykum
Ramadan mubarak

The Honourable Margaret Beazley AC QC
