ICSOA met Mehdi Hassan- An award winning journalist of Al-Jazeera

On Thursday 13 July 2017, Crescent Wealth arranged an exclusive lunch in honour of Mehdi Hasan in order to meet the movers and shakers in the Muslim community including a number of ICSOA members at a reception held at their Sydney City offices.

Mehdi Hasan is an internationally acclaimed broadcaster, author and journalist. It was an excellent opportunity to meet, greet, discuss and exchange views on current global issues with him highly appreciating the talented, assertive, committed, gifted with an extraordinary oratory skills and very well informed person he is.

There was another event the same evening of at Western Sydney University, a special talk of Mehdi Hasan on the topic “Defeating Extremism” which was also attended by a number of ICSOA members.

On Monday 17 July 2017, Mehdi Hasan participated on Q & A session on ABC TV along with Matt Canavan, Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Terri Butler, Queensland MP, John Stackhouse, a Canadian Historian and Rachel Corbett a TV Presenter.

Few ICSOA members and youths also attended Q & A live session on ABC TV which had a massive audience. Topics included Adani project and Islamophobia. Good numbers of demonstrators against the Adani project were seen drumming outside the ABC building.

Mehdi Hasan is of British Indian background and a presenter of the Al Jazeera English shows “The Café”, “Head to Head” and “Upfront”.

Currently a member of International Advisory Committee of Aligarh Muslim University. Has represented community activities & issues on radio.
