Meeting with the Shadow Ministers on visa issues

The Indian Crescent Society of Australia (ICSOA) was invited to attend a meeting with the shadow Minister of Immigration Hon Shayne Neumann MP and Assistant shadow minister of Immigration Hon Julie Owens at Harris Park, NSW.

The meeting was part of Labor Paerty’s Listening Tour program aimed at understanding community concerns around Migration and Refugee issues.

ICSOA was represented by Abbas Raza Alvi (President), Siddique Paanwala (Legal Advisor) and Mohammad Rehan Ahmed (Member of ICSOA-Legal sub-committee).

ICSOA raised the issues of common community concerns surrounding student visas, Parents visas in general and new Parent visa initiative due to commence later this year.

Both MPs listened to the concerns attentively and advised Labor’s position on all visa related issues. Labor party reiterated its commitment to introducing a bond type of financial commitment for long term parent visa instead of charging a hefty fee for this kind of visa.

ICSOA thanked the shadow Ministers for their invitation and constructive comments on visa related issues.
